I got to thinking, what economic impact would winning the Super Bowl have for Denver? We know an influx of spending happens in the “host city” but what about the winning team’s city? If the Denver Broncos win the Super Bowl will the Colorado economy receive a boost. Will our real estate market improve if they hoist the Lombardi Trophy this Sunday? Well, I found an interesting stat:
Here is the post I stumbled on. The authors chalk this up to an unidentified productivity-enhancement.
Interesting, so the winning city sees their workforce become more productive. It sounds silly to speculate that football can have such an economic impact for a purely psychological standpoint, but the data says this is true. Spending rises with income, and real estate spending is no exception. So, one COULD say that if the Denver Broncos win the Super Bowl it will boost our real estate market!
So, let’s cheer our boys in orange on this Sunday not only because we want them to win….but we would all benefit from a economic boost this spring!
UNITED IN ORANGE!
